We have reason to expect quality work from Guerra and Davies (started slow last year too). Anderson has been ok; Garza has been strangely good (he pitched well for a bit last time he came off the dl too); Peralta and Nelson have mostly stunk. At this point I’d rather see what Woodruff and Lopez can give us than have them blocked by mid-level flotsam. To follow your strategy, the Brewers would have had to bet hard against the guys they have. I see the argument, but I’d still rather rebuild the rotation than stopgap it.

As for the pen, Feliz was exactly the strategy you’re recommending. I don’t mind him as a potential trade chip, but he isn’t helping the team much.

I am interested to see which domino falls when Guerra returns. They need to keep Davies, Anderson and (GASP) Garza (until they find a trading partner for him…aren’t the Cubs looking for a 5th starter?!?) in the rotation.

Peralta can go to the pen. Dump Marinez or Scahill. Nelson has until the end of the season to figure something out before I scream for Lopez, Woodruff or Hader, in that order.
