Prospect of the Day:  SS Orlando Arcia, Biloxi

In many ways, tracking extended slumps for top prospects is just as entertaining as tracking hot streaks. How a stud prospect breaks out of a slump, how long the slump lasts, and how long a player goes between slumps is informative. Between July 22 and July 28, Arcia went hitless, going 0-for-17 with a pair of strikeouts. Since then, he has gone 10-for-21 in the past six games with three stolen bases and a couple walks. The 21-year-old plays with a swagger and confidence that makes him a natural leader on the diamond; however, those same traits allow him to limit dry spells at the plate. He’s now riding a six-game hitting streak and has brought his batting average over .300 once again. The Brewers haven’t had a prospect like Arcia in years, perhaps since Alcides Escobar. Even then, though, Arcia has more feel at the plate than Escobar. He’s a stud and could see time in Milwaukee as soon as 2016, though that likely depends on the fates of Segura and Sardinas.
